The Geysers

The primary objective of the Stanford Geothermal Program is the development of reservoir engineering techniques to facilitate the production of geothermal resources as efficiently as possible. Investigation topics, chosen to provide the greatest impact, attempt to identify and solve current or imminent problems in the field. A key topic for the immediate future is the investigation of reinjection into vapor-dominated reservoirs, such as those found at "The Geysers" in California. Key projects will focus on the effects of adsorption during injection as well as the examination of the mechanisms of boiling in the vapor-filled porous rock.
